Coloured Pencil Pet Portrait Series
with Sherry Telle
This workshop series is designed for beginner to intermediate drawing students who want to learn how to create realistic coloured pencil pet portraits. It is ideal for those transitioning from black and white drawing to colour work, and requires no prior experience in pet portraiture.
Students will receive group instruction along with individual guidance tailored to their projects, plus homework to practice between sessions.
By the end of the series, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of coloured pencil techniques specific to pet portraiture—layering, texture creation, blending, lifting, and the use of grids for accuracy—and the ability to create expressive portraits of their own pets.
Preparation Before the Workshop: Participants should bring multiple photographs of their pets to the first session to select the best reference for their portrait. This preparation will help maximize the effectiveness of the workshop from the start.
