Maxie Peña

Maxie Peña is a Filipina calligrapher who specializes in Engrosser’s Script. She received her IAMPETH Certificate of Proficiency in 2023 and Certificate of Excellence in 2024. She credits her hand and eye training through courses from her teachers Nina Tran and Connie Chen.
Maxie’s love for pointed pen started in 2016 when, during in an in-person workshop, a “The wand chooses the wizard” moment happened for her when she first wrote with a pointed nib. Though she also enjoys other calligraphy nibs and brushes, she gravitates towards the cursive form and the natural swells that the pointed nib makes.
Her goal in teaching workshops is to share that same joy that sparked her lifelong love for calligraphy. She has been teaching workshops and leading study groups since 2019.
There's no "wrong" way to write when you express your own voice through the strokes of your pen.
