Cobra oil paints are available in 70 colours and two ranges: Artist and Study. To complete your collection, Cobra also offers paint brushes, a soap to clean your equipment with and various supporting materials, including painting mediums and varnishes.
Cobra Artist Oil Colours
During the grinding process, the paint is ground on the triple roller mill until it reaches an artists’ quality fineness. The range consists of 70 transparent, semi-transparent, semi-opaque and opaque colours. They all have the highest degree of lightfastness (+++) and will remain unchanged for at least 100 years under museum conditions. The range includes 32 mono-pigmented colours, including ten colours based on exclusive pigments – such as cadmiums, cobalt and chromium oxides – as well as a beautifully transparent oxide red or yellow.

Mediums affect the properties of the paint and are often indispensable for a durable build-up of your painting, while varnishes are important to seal and protect your painting over time. Another important factor: Cobra mediums are solvent free.
Painting Medium 091
Cobra Painting Medium is a colourless medium that can be mixed with Cobra oil paint to create a smoother and fatter paint. This allows the paint to be spread out easily and the brush stroke to become less distinct. It can be applied in a layered painting technique as well. This painting medium is based on vegetable oils and synthetic resin.
Properties:
- Increases the gloss and transparency of the paint.
- Can be thinned with water.
- Makes the brush stroke run slightly.
- Does not influence the drying time of the paint.
- Increases the durability of the paint film.
- Yellows slightly.
Water-Mixable Linseed Oil
Create your own medium or make your paint fatter with Cobra water-mixable safflower and linseed oil. These oils increase the flow and transparency of the paint. The difference between them is that linseed oil dries more quickly compared to safflower oil. Due to the drying time, we recommend using linseed oil for the lower layers of your painting. Though linseed oil does yellow slightly over time, it also provides you with a more stable paint film. Safflower oil does not yellow, which makes it best suited for the final layers of your painting.

Medium Mix
When working with oil paint, solvents like white spirit are often used to mix and thin the paint. Our mission is to minimise the use of these solvents since they are harmful for your health and the environment. To help artists make the switch from traditional oil paints to water-mixable oil paints, we developed this medium mix.
Add this medium to your left-over traditional oil paints to make them water mixable, so you can mix and thin your paint using just water!

Water-Mixable Safflower Oil
Create your own medium or make your paint fatter with Cobra water-mixable safflower and linseed oil. These oils increase the flow and transparency of the paint. The difference between them is that linseed oil dries more quickly compared to safflower oil. Due to the drying time, we recommend using linseed oil for the lower layers of your painting. Though linseed oil does yellow slightly over time, it also provides you with a more stable paint film. Safflower oil does not yellow, which makes it best suited for the final layers of your painting.

Glazing Medium 092
Cobra Glazing Medium is a colourless medium that can be mixed with Cobra oil paint to make your paint flow better. The added amount affects the degree of transparency. This technique – making coloured transparent paint layers without a visible brush stroke – is referred to as glazing. Glazing mediums are very fat and should only be applied in the final layers of a painting. This medium is based on vegetable oils.

Quick Drying Medium 093
Cobra Quick Drying Medium is a colourless medium that can be mixed with Cobra oil paint to reduce the drying time of the paint. It also increases the flow and transparency and makes the paint fatter. This quick drying medium is based on vegetable oils, synthetic resins and a siccative.

Painting Paste 087
Cobra Painting Paste is a colourless medium that can be mixed with Cobra oil paint in any ratio. The paste is as thick as the paint and can therefore be described as a water-mixable oil paint without any pigment. This paste is composed of vegetable oils and thickening agents and has various uses:
Increasing the amount of paint:
Painting paste can be used for impasto techniques (applying pure paint in thick strokes with a painting knife) using more expensive colours, so you can increase the amount of paint without there being difference in colour. The more paste you add, the more transparent the paint becomes. The painting paste also allows thick paint to dry completely to the core, preventing wrinkling or rippling during and after drying.
Decreasing the colour intensity:
The colour intensity of the paint will decrease as more painting paste is added. This may be particularly important with the alla prima (wet-on-wet) technique when mixing colours with a highly divergent colour intensity with one another in your painting. By adding more painting paste to a stronger colour, this becomes less prominent.

Varnish Gloss 102 Spray Can
Cobra Odourless Varnish Gloss offers permanent protection against aging, dust, dirt and other external influences, gives the painting an even sheen and does not turn yellow or crack over time. The spray can is easy to use and adheres well to the underlying paint layer. If necessary, the varnish can easily be removed, even after many years. This glossy varnish is composed of synthetic resin and odourless white spirit.

- Protects against aging, dust, dirt and other external influences.
- Does not yellow or crack over time.
- Dries within a few hours.
- Dry varnish layers can easily be removed, even after many years.
Varnish Matt 103 Spray Can
Cobra Odourless Varnish Matt offers permanent protection against aging, dust, dirt and other external influences, gives the painting an even sheen and does not turn yellow or crack over time. The spray can is easy to use and adheres well to the underlying paint layer. If necessary, the varnish can easily be removed, even after many years. This matt varnish is composed of synthetic resin, matting agents (silicas) and odourless white spirit.

- Protects against aging, dust, dirt and other external influences.
- Does not yellow or crack over time.
- Dries within a few hours.

Varnish Satin 118 Spray Can
Cobra Odourless Varnish Satin offers permanent protection against aging, dust, dirt and other external influences, gives the painting an even sheen and does not turn yellow or crack over time. The spray can is easy to use and adheres well to the underlying paint layer. If necessary, the varnish can easily be removed, even after many years. This satin varnish is composed of synthetic resin, matting agents (silicas) and odourless white spirit.

- Protects against aging, dust, dirt and other external influences.
- Does not yellow or crack over time.
- Dries within a few hours.
- Dry varnish layers can easily be removed, even after many years.
Developed by Holbein in 1999 to offer the same high pigment quality and archival characteristics of Holbein’s Artists’ Oil line while allowing soap-and-water cleanup, Duo Aqua Oils are characterized by rich hues, high chroma, excellent lightfast ratings equivalent to that of traditional oil color and superior working characteristics. Holbein specifically details 17 colors as “Elite” colors that contain heavy metal pigments like cadmiums and cobalts. DUO offers 100 highly pigmented Artist Grade Colors suspended in a water soluble, Refined Linseed Oil. DUO is compatible with all media including traditional oil color and mediums, watercolor, gouache, acrylic gouache and acrylic. DUO is an excellent teaching tool and a superb printmaking ink.
DUO Linseed Oil
Increases the transparency and gloss finish while slowing drying time of DUO. Available in 55 & 200 ml.
• Can be thinned with water.
• Milky appearance from adding water will become clear when dry.
• While DUO Linseed Oil may become cloudy over time, performance will not be affected.
DUO Stand Linseed Oil
A highly viscous, thermal polymerized linseed oil that increases the transparency of DUO. Available in 55ml.
• Produces a leveled and enamel gloss effect when mixing with DUO Colors and/or DUO Painting Medium.
• Creates an elastic and durable film.
• Milky appearance from adding water will become clear when dry.
• While DUO Stand Linseed Oil may become cloudy over time, performance will not be affected.
DUO Painting Oil Medium
Enhances transparency and gloss finish while accelerating drying time. Aids in brush ability and flow. Great for detail. Available in 55 & 200ml.
• Use alone, or thin with water.
• Milky appearance from adding water will become clear when dry.
• DUO Linseed Oil can be added for stronger surface finish during final layers of painting.
• Store in a cool, dark place.
• While DUO Painting Oil Medium may become cloudy over time, performance will not be affected.
DUO Quick Drying Liquid
Enhances transparency and gloss finish while dramatically accelerating drying time. Available in 55 & 200ml.
• When mixing DUO Quick Drying Liquid and DUO Color in equal parts, substrate surface will become tacky in as little as 30 minutes.
• Adding too much DUO Quick Drying Liquid may cause unstable results. Do not exceed 50%.
• Can be thinned with water, reducing the overall effect.
• Milky appearance from adding water will become clear when dry.
• While DUO Quick Drying Liquid may become cloudy over time, performance will not be affected.
DUO Quick Drying Medium, Gloss Paste
An aqueous paste medium that, when mixed with DUO, results in a transparent and gloss finish while dramatically accelerating drying time. Available in 50 & 110ml tubes.
• When mixing DUO Quick Drying Medium Gloss and DUO Color in equal parts, substrate surface will become tacky in as little as 30 minutes.
• Thick layers may cause wrinkling.
• Can be thinned with water, reducing gloss effects.
• Milky appearance from adding water will become clear when dry.
DUO Quick Drying Medium, Matte Paste
An aqueous paste medium that, when mixed with DUO, results in a translucent and matte finish while dramatically accelerating drying time. Available in 50 & 100ml tubes.
• When mixing DUO Quick Drying Medium Matte and DUO Color in equal parts, substrate surface will become tacking in as little as 30 minutes.
• Overall matte effect varies from color to color.
• Thick layers may cause wrinkling.
• Can be thinned with water, reducing the matte effect.
• Milky appearance from adding water will become clear when dry.
